Management: 1:1

One of the highlights in my week are talking to folks during 1:1s. I have a few guidelines that I follow for those interactions with my teammates:

  1. I let them choose when and how often to have their 1:1.
  2. I get to know them and their aspirations.
  3. I elaborate any company announcements, changes, or anniversaries.
  4. We create a development plan around their goals and regularly check in to see their progress.
  5. We schedule how and when to pair up and get to work together.
  6. I ask about their morale and setup an action plan to improve it if it is low.
  7. And most importantly I make it a priority to LISTEN.
